What's the difference between plaque and tartar?

Plaque is the sticky, invisible coating that forms on the surface of teeth by bacteria and saliva. Daily flossing and thorough brushing can remove plaque. Tartar is the crusty mineral deposit that forms along the gumline of teeth. When tartar hardens it can only be removed during a professional cleaning, when the dentist or dental hygienist scales and scrapes your teeth.  |  |  Legal Policies  |  Privacy Polices  |  Cookies Policy  |  Site Map  |  Contact Us
